Nursing a sore throat

Having battled with some throat ulcers for 4 days, I’ve decided to pop the antibiotics which had been sitting in my medicine cabinet for 2 months.

It started off with some irritation and pain. The discomfort matures into stabbing pains when swallowed and it happened only at one side of the throat. I read lots of resources and discovered that it might be strep throat. *Faint*

The causes of strep throat are still very vague to me but one resource explains that extreme stress could induce strep throat as well. White spots will appear at the back of the throat. (I had 3 white spots)

I did not usually like to take antibiotics because if you pop one, you will have to finish the whole course. Failing to do so will encourage the remaining bacteria in the body to build immunity against the drug. The drug i took was Moxilen, a well tolerated antibiotic prescribed by my family doctor 2 months ago (meant for my tour trip in march).

WARNING: DO NOT self-medicate.

Of course, i was encouraged by a colleague who told me that a prolonged sore throat could lead to bronchitis, as this is what had happened in her case. Being the scardy cat, I decided to start the course of antibiotics.

It took 4 pills (4 dosages) to get the drug working on the ulcers. In order to prevent this from happening again, i am going to rest more often from work, drink more water and try not to get overly-stressed. At the end of the day, health is still more important.
