I hate buying new shoes

Buying shoes used to be a bliss for me till i joined this new discipline called ‘teacher’. For the very first semester, i was exceptionally confident and was all ready to dress up for classes. I wore my favorite high-heeled shoes and skirts to school on class days. BIG mistake. I was totally “screwed” up in my first semester. Why?

  1. I have to stand in class most of the time throughout the day. You can imagine how hurting it is for the soles of my feet, and indirectly, the pressure that have been exerting on my spine! I had frequent backaches.
  2. My classrooms are not near the staff office. And if i have last minute urge to visit the ladies, i will have to run all the way in order to be punctual for classes.
  3. The flooring of some of the corridors and the main open lawn (which connects to different buildings) are made up of wooden planks. I did a wonderful “ski-performance” once on a rainy day and luckily no one was around to see my undies. (Heaven forbids!)

With all above 3 reasons, i think it’s enough for me to ditch the skirts and to go for boring pants whenever i have class. (Thank heaven i do not have classes everyday) Further to that, i’ve also thrown my unuse high-heel shoes into my i-seldom-notice cupboard. My criteria for purchasing new shoes totally changed.

New Criteria

  • Must be flatshoes.jpg
  • Must be80% covered
  • Must have rubber sole (YES, this is a MUST!!)
  • Must be cheap and durable

Unfortunately, it’s very hard to find shoes which fits in with my criteria perfectly. Sigh… however, i still do not regret getting into this profession. Shoes are just secondary needs right?

Stumble it!

  1. Oh My Goodness!
I hear you on the standing all day!
I worked retail in high end stores for a while and I couldn’t figure out how all the other women wore HIGH heels and stood for 7.5 hours like me on HARD FLOOR!
Now, imagine having narrow heels and wide in the front! I can’t wear ANY slip on styles (like the ones in your picture) because my heels slip right out!
…I was thinking I was going to have to try Nurse shoes! eeewww…so ugly!
    :(

  2. Oh man… giving up cute high heels and pointy toes…must have been heartbreaking. Those flats are cute, though. great find!

  3. to Mikiye Creations: i guess some women have to bear with it, since wearing heels does really make women look sexy ;) Now i look like an auntie sometime, especially if my flats are those leather and black kind.

to SpaTherapyWorks: Yes, very very sad… i saw those shoes which i love but couldnt buy it coz, i know i will never get to wear it often, or perhaps never :(
