I hate marketing calls
For the past few days, i had been haunted by numerous irritating marketing calls, so much to the extend of me having to filter all calls. This is the wonder of using Sony Ericsson phones. It has a wonderful function called ‘Manage Calls->Accepted List’.
The calls came from reputable banks like Citibank to insurance companies like Prudential. I wonder where do they purchase our contacts from. It’s damn irritating. Nowadays i reduce my chances of getting my contacts exploited by using my residential phone numbers on all lucky draws and when entering online forms. I find that advertisers seldom call residential numbers unless the owners really struck lottery.
*I really pity those marketers sometime. They are just doing their jobs but i cant imagine them having to face customers like myself all the time.*
Most of the time, I don’t even bother to hear their promotion gimmicks and all i did was just say ‘Thank you for calling‘ and slide down my phone right after that. I could still hear the caller talking to the air while i end the call. Yeah, it’s pretty rude but it sure works well during the times when i am busy.
The only time i did finish talking to a marketeer and ended off quite nicely was while waiting for a friend who was half an hour late for my appointment. It’s definitely so much nicer to ‘chat’ with a stranger than to stare into outer space during the wait.
I wonder how other people handle such calls.
