My current flat shoes are suffocating from a serious lack of air and one of them had to resort to ‘opening it’s mouth’ to breathe through my toes. I was devastated as this is my favourite pair of flat shoes which i usually wear to class.
Although it’s not a branded and expensive pair of shoes, it’s still bought by my hard earned money.
I met up with a good friend of mine yesterday evening with two main agendas in mind:
- To shop for a new pair of uncovered flat shoes to exhibit my newly pedicured toe nails
- To buy a birthday present for our close common friend
Results:
- Instead of getting my specific type of shoes in mind, i ended up getting a pair of Surfers Paradise covered shoes at $9.90! Oh man…
- We managed to get a nice and secretive present for my friend’s birthday.
This pair of shoes is really comfy to wear. And the price is shockingly cheap. Well, not that cheap either. This is one of the shop’s marketing gimmick.
Different types of shoes get their fair share of going on sales at different periods of time in the year. Some people will think that getting items on sales are cheapo and unclassy; but one thing these people didn’t know is, the shoes are sold at almost their cost price during sale times and on normal days, they are highly marked up.
In my humble opinion, the huge consumer market is highly balanced by two kinds of people:
- one is the price-sensitive kind (those who shop smartly and compare prices like a professional auntie. Usually this kind of people gets the best deals in town) and the other is the
- price-insensitive kind (those who care more for packaging and the brand. This kind of people are loved by the shop owners as they are willing to pay more for something that could possibly have other cheaper substitutes).
If you do a little more research, many a times, you can get almost the same kind of product at shockingly different prices. Shops make use of packaging, price gimmicks and layout techniques to attract the two kinds of consumers.
For me, i am kind of an in-between, more towards the price-sensitive but still trying to be a pro auntie.
