Sushi time!

Finally managed to get down to making sushi with my buddies. The process is rather fun and exciting. The challenge comes when we started rolling the sheets of seaweed with our favourite ingredients; you would  need some strength to press the sheet and the rice tightly together so that you can cut the sushi more easily.

As for the rice, we made use of 3-rice cups of small and short Japanese rice. The mixture (consisting of melted 8 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 4 tablespoons of sugar and 1/2 tablespoon of sugar) was slowly blended into the cool rice. Each of us have our own ‘skills’ so we divided the tasks naturally amongst ourselves.

Ingredients used:

  • Papaya and carrot strips
  • Cucumber strips
  • Unagi
  • Tuna with mayo
  • Crab stick with mayo
  • Avocado slices
  • Sliced Egg omelet

Here are some snapshots of our fun sushi making process:

Meal for two?

I guess it’s getting more and more challenging to cook nice meals for two. Either the portion is too great or the portion is too little. What’s worst is, I only whipped up meals on Sundays and the ingredients cannot be kept for too long.

The dinner last night caused both of us to [...]

Sunday Dinner

My cooking spirit is back again after sometime. This was my first weekend at home after having busy weekends outside  for the past few weeks. Hubbie wanted to try our own Bah Kut Teh, so we bought the spices and also some pork bones from the nearest miserable market.

The soup ended up more [...]

Egg with Long Beans

Another “new” creation of mine. Rather than just frying pure eggs alone, this time round, i decided to fry it with chopped long beans. :)

The result is good for the newbie me. Nice?
