I had a little chat over lunch with a fellow colleague recently and she shared with us her personal story. One of her close relatives is suspected of having cancer of the lymph node. Right now, they are all waiting for lab results. I could understand her fears and worry over waiting for a particular result, especially if it’s regarding someone so close to you.
I checked it up on the internet and found out the importance of lymph nodes. Here’s what’s quoted from the wikipedia:
A lymph node is an organ consisting of many types of cells, and is a part of the lymphatic system. Lymph nodes are found all through the body, and act as filters or traps for foreign particles. They contain white blood cells that use oxygen to process. Thus they are important in the proper functioning of the immune system.
Looks like lymph nodes are pretty important for us. There is also another important feature in our body. That is mesothelium. Just like lymph nodes, if one was diagnosed to have cancer in this area, it could be tricky to treat. You might need special malignant Mesothelioma treatment.
It’s pretty scary isn’t it? It’s only until now that i realized that we have two very important system in our body. We must always treasure our health.
