Welcoming 2009

I am back at work today. It’s also Granny’s (relative cum confinement lady) last day with us this morning. We went out together and accompany her to take a cab home. It’s warm heartening to see her making breakfast for me today even though she is leaving. It’s just like the usual morning.

I’ve learn a lot from Granny during her one-month stay here. From cooking tips to making cute triangles out of unused plastic bags. It’s good to have an elderly staying with you. It’s like keeping a treasure at home. I wonder why some children choose to abandon their parents when they are old.

A familiar scene of students pouring into the school greeted me as I walked into the office premises this morning. I wasn’t expecting huge changes even though I was absent for a month.

Two nicely occupied cubicles around me are now oddly empty. I missed the colleagues’ chatter even though I don’t know them personally.

Had lunch with the usual colleagues and every conversation made was fresh news. It symbolizes a new start for 2009.

Hello 2009, I hope you will bring me better things this year.
